DESCRIPTION:Whether or not you attended the joint meeting with the Brooklyn Ethical Society on Juneteenth last week\, please join us for this discussion. As explained by Wikipedia. “Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the southern United States that had formed the Confederacy.  Originating in Galveston\, Texas\, it is now celebrating on June 19 throughout the United States\, with increasing official recognition.  It is commemorated on the anniversary date of the June 19\, 1865\, announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger\, proclaiming freedom  from slavery in Texas.” \nThis discussion will be led by EHST member Fred Breidt. \nHere is the transcript of the presentation given last week to the Brooklyn Society\, “Celebrating Juneteenth: Where is the Joy in Freedom?” with NYC Deputy Mayor J. Phillip Thompson. \n  \nThis talk will be presented via a Zoom session.
