SUMMARY:Fifteen Years After 9/11
DESCRIPTION:The terrorist attacks of 9/11 changed everything\, from the lives of those loved ones perished at the World Trade Center\, those who died when AA flight 77 crashed into the pentagon\, and those on UA flight 93 who successfully but tragically prevented a third plane from crashing into the White House. Our program today will allow our members\, friends and visitors to remember that day\, and how it affected them.   We are not seeking political or theoretical statements\, and will not pursue this in a debate format.  This is simply time to remember.

SUMMARY:Hiroshima Day Commemoration
DESCRIPTION:Eisenhower Chapter 157 Veterans for Peace invites everyone to a Candlelight Vigil to mark the 71st Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Please join us as we stand against the “modernization” of our nuclear weapons program and call for the abolition of nuclear weapons of war. Our message: “Never again!” We will distribute information to passersby as we stand with our candles in a (mostly) silent vigil. We also will offer a few brief speeches and songs. Please bring your families and friends. We’ll have a few signs for you to hold\, or you can bring your own. \nParking is tight in Chapel Hill. We recommend the public parking ramp at 100 East Rosemary St. \nNote that this is not an EHST event\, but many of us support this memorial\, and have attended in the past.
