Our cooking at the homeless shelter in Carroboro (NC) is currently suspended due to COVID. We hope this service will be resumed soon.
Each 4th Thursday of the month, except Thanksgiving, EHST volunteers (members and friends) prepare a meal and serve the needy at the Interfaith Council Community Kitchen in Chapel Hill (100 West Rosemary Street). Cooking is from 4 to 6 pm using foods selected by the managers of the shelter. Our servers then serve the food to the homeless and needy from 6:10 until 7:00 pm. Some people prefer just to cook, others prefer to serve, and some do both. We may serve anywhere from 50 to 90 people. Most of them are very happy to get a good meal, and are thankful. It is our joy and pleasure to cook and serve to people who are in need.
If you are a member or have visited with us and would like to cook or serve, please contact us. EHST has cooking and serving since 1994, our longest service project!
