Hiroshima Day Commemoration
August 6, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Eisenhower Chapter 157 Veterans for Peace invites everyone to a Candlelight Vigil to mark the 71st Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Please join us as we stand against the “modernization” of our nuclear weapons program and call for the abolition of nuclear weapons of war. Our message: “Never again!” We will distribute information to passersby as we stand with our candles in a (mostly) silent vigil. We also will offer a few brief speeches and songs. Please bring your families and friends. We’ll have a few signs for you to hold, or you can bring your own.
Parking is tight in Chapel Hill. We recommend the public parking ramp at 100 East Rosemary St.
Note that this is not an EHST event, but many of us support this memorial, and have attended in the past.
