I Have A Theory – Darwin Day Reflections

Our society is currently plagued by many wacky theories. In the dictionary, there are multiple definitions of the word theory, most having not much to do with science. For scientists, a theory is something special, pure and rigorous, right? Well, maybe. Consider Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian friar whose published research led us on a direct path to understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind the theory of evolution. For Darwin Day, let’s consider how the theory of inheritance has evolved, starting with Mendel. My theory and hope is that this will be instructional.  EHST member Fred Breidt will provide us with these reflections.
