School Resource Officers in Our Schools – Help or Harm?

UNC Prof. Barbara Fedders will speak to us about School Resource Officers (SROs) in our schools and whether they benefit all students.  She will also highlight the work of the Youth Justice Clinic which UNC sponsors.  SROs were originally brought into schools to help prevent mass shootings in schools.  Now they are under scrutiny in their alleged role in the “school to prison pipeline.”   Some school systems are either eliminating SROs or cutting back their numbers.  Prof. Fedders will talk with us about this issue.
