Social Media and Fighting Disinformation

UNC Professor Deen Freelon will discuss the interaction between social media and disinformation.  He will speak briefly about his research, and then he will engage the meeting participants to share their perceptions of and experiences with mis/disinformation.  He is very interested in how our own perceptions mesh with his research.  Prof. Freelon was recently interviewed by The Guardian about this problem.  Here’s the link: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/01/disinformation-us-election-covid-pandemic-trump-biden
