Here is more about our history and affiliations.
Ethical Culture is the historical name of our movement which began in 1876. Ethical Humanism is the modern name for the movement as of 2008. We use the terms interchangeably. In 2010 we changed our name from the North Carolina Society for Ethical Culture to our current name to reflect the modern name for the movement. You can find out more about the history of Ethical Culture including many founding documents this biblioblog.
In 2012 our founder, Ina Evans, addressed the society on its 26th year. Watch the video of that program on our Youtube Channel; fast forward to 5:30 (min:sec) in the video to hear her talk. In 2016 we celebrated our 30th anniversary; you can hear some testimonials by several of our members on our Youtube Channel. You can listen to any of our recorded public programs as well.
We have a Facebook Community Page. We also post our meeting notices to our Meetup Group: Friends of the Ethical Humanist Society of the Triangle.
Asheville has a society, called the Ethical Society of Asheville. If you are from the Asheville area, we hope you will also feel free to visit them. They would love to see you!

We are also affiliated with American Humanist Association (AHA). Our affiliation means that we feel a close synergy with the American Humanist Association, while at the same time being primarily dedicated to the goals and mission of the American Ethical Union. We welcome all humanists to our meetings, as well as all people who can place ethics as their ultimate concern.
As a member organization of the American Ethical Union (AEU), we are also members of Humanists International. Please visit our Ethical Links page and our Ethical Culture page to find out more about how we relate to these organizations. The AEU is also a member of the Secular Coalition of America.
